The Orton-Gillingham method of tutoring children struggling with learning differences was developed in the 1930’s by Samuel Orton, a neuropsychiatrist and Anna Gillingham an educator and psychologist.
Here’s what we offer:
- Personalised: Each child learns in a unique way. The Orton-Gillingham approach is adapted to work with your child’s strengths.
- Multisensory: The brain learns by taking information in through a number of senses. When students learn by being working with materials that engage different senses they find that it is easier to be successful in learning.
- Phonics Based: Using phonics, students learn to decode language in a logical and systematic way.
Who is it for?
The Orton-Gillingham approach was specifically developed for students with language based difficulties. The most common type of language based challenge is Dyslexia, but it has been successfully used with many types of learners in the 85 years it has been around.
